‘Memory’ Trailer: Jessica Chastain & Peter Sarsgaard Star In Michel Franco’s Acclaimed Drama Due Dec 22

Following acclaimed dramas like “New Order,” “Chronic” and “Sundown,” Mexican filmmaker Michel Franco has been gaining more and more international praise. While he’s worked with globally recognized names like Tim Roth (“Chronic,” “Sundown”), Hollywood has finally come knocking in a big way with his latest film, “Memory” which stars Academy Award winner Jessica Chastain and Peter Sarsgaard, who won the Best Actor Volpi Cup at the 2023 Venice Film Festival.

Written and directed by Franco’s stirring new film centers on a past, present, and future that collide when Saul (Sarsgaard) follows Sylvia (Chastain) home from their high school reunion. The rest from there remains under wraps, but it’s said to be about two people learning how to start over with each other (read our review). “Memory” premiered in Venice and was also screened at Toronto, AFI, London, San Sebastián, Savannah, and Morelia film festivals which speaks to its broad appeal.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Sylvia is a social worker who leads a simple and structured life. This is blown open when Saul follows her home from their high school reunion. Their surprise encounter will profoundly impact both of them as they open the door to the past.

“Memory,” will be released on December 22 in New York and Los Angeles prior to a nationwide rollout on January 5 from Ketchup Entertainment.  Watch the first trailer below.
