‘Amsterdam’ Trailer: Christian Bale, Margot Robbie & John David Washington Lead Huge Cast In David O. Russell Pic

“You don’t get here without things starting a long time ago,” we’re told near the start of the trailer for David O. Russell’s star-laden Amsterdam. Watch it above, and check out the key art below.

It’s the story of three friends, two soldiers and a nurse (Christian Bale, John David Washington and Margot Robbie), who find themselves in the titular Dutch capital and form a pact to look out for one another — no matter what. As the Ten Years After classic “I’d Love to Change the World” plays, the trio finds themselves “in a situation where we’re accused of killing someone, which is not true,” as Bale’s character tells us.

They need someone to help. Enter Robert De Niro, who says, “My friend was killed because of something monstrous that he had seen.”

As if that isn’t enough star power, the period film also features a few folks you might have heard about over the years: Alessandro Nivola, Andrea Riseborough, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Rock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Shannon, Mike Myers, Taylor Swift, Zoe Saldaña and Rami Malek.

Weaving historical fact with fiction, the pic’s tagline is, “A lot of this actually happened.”

New Regency’s Arnon Milchan produced the pic alongside Matthew Budman, Anthony Katagas, Russell and Bale. Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, and Sam Hanson are the executive producers.

Amsterdam, whose first footage was shown at CinemaCon, is coming to theaters in November 4 via 20th Century Studios.
